John Krogman named new DoIT director
John A. Krogman has been named chief operating officer (COO) of the Division of Information Technology and associate chief information officer (CIO). Ron Kraemer, CIO and vice provost for information technology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, made the announcement today (Oct. 31).
“John has a stellar record as a leader of service organizations. He is eminently qualified to steer DoIT as it provides reliable, affordable services to UW–Madison schools, colleges and service units,” says Kraemer. “John has management and leadership experience, but above that he embraces collaborative solutions to complex challenges, which I view as a must in this position.”
Krogman, a UW–Madison engineering alumnus, has been associate vice chancellor of information services, CIO and director of the library at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since 2002. He began his career at UW-Platteville in 1981 as a member of the engineering faculty.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be chosen to lead a quality IT organization the caliber of the Division of Information Technology. I am equally excited to partner with the University of Wisconsin community to insure that DoIT continues to provide superior IT services that support the academic, research and business needs of the campus well into the future.”
DoIT provides information technology services for UW–Madison, as well as several UW System projects. Krogman will oversee 800 staff members and a budget of $70 million. His start date is Jan. 1, 2009.
