How you can get involved

September 13, 2001

Here are some ways you can be involved or help others in the wake of the tragedies:

Review procedures
The UW Police Department encourages building managers to review the Emergency Procedures booklet recently distributed by the department to help manage emergency conditions.

Give blood
For campus community members who want to do something to help, Youngblood Center in Union South will follow regular blood donation hours Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Drop-ins are not accepted; to make an appointment, call 227-1357.

Sue Saari, team supervisor of the Youngblood Center, says “there will be an ongoing need for blood, not just this week but in the coming months.”

Financial help
The United Way of New York and the New York Community Trust have established a fund to help the victims of the attacks and their families. The September Eleventh Fund will provide immediate support to established emergency assistance agencies. Anyone wishing to contribute may send their donations in care of United Way, 2 Park Ave, New York, New York, 10016 or call: (212) 251-4035.
