Homecoming events shape up

The 2000 Badger Homecoming Committee invites students and alumni, Madison residents and others to join in this year’s celebration Oct. 15-21.

Sign up now to participate in the “Madtown Mardi Gras” Charity 5K Run/3K Walk on Sunday, Oct. 15, which starts at noon in front of Memorial Union. The fee is $12 if you register by Friday, Oct. 6, or $15 on the day of the event (10-11:30 a.m. on Library Mall). A t-shirt is guaranteed to all pre-registrants. Individual awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers. There will also be awards for best participation by residence halls, student organization and Greek houses.

The 3rd Annual UW Homecoming Golf Outing will take place Friday, Oct. 20, starting at noon at University Ridge Golf Course. The entry fee is $125 per player or $450 for a foursome. The package includes 18 holes of golf, a golf car, cookout, a photo with Bucky Badger, prizes and contests. The deadline for registration is Sunday, Oct. 1, which will guarantee participants a golf shirt. Late registrations will be accepted subject to availability.

Members of the university community are also encouraged to donate blood during the annual Homecoming Blood Drive, which runs Sept. 28-Oct. 20 at the Youngblood donation center, 302C Union South. The center is open Thursdays and Fridays,10 a.m.-4 p.m.
