Hoffman named Campus and Visitor Relations director
Nancy Hoffman, a 21-year campus veteran who has played a key role in welcoming tens of thousands of visitors to UW–Madison, has been named permanent director of Campus and Visitor Relations (CAVR).
Hoffman, who previously served as interim director, has worked in the unit since 1996 and has two UW–Madison degrees. The office manages campus tours and visits, the Parent and Family Program, the Speakers Bureau, Bucky’s Classroom, Campus Area Housing and other information programs.
“I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated team and campus partners to create positive first impressions and accessible, dynamic and engaging experiences for all of our visitors,” Hoffmann says.
Hoffman and the CAVR student and professional staff are the go-to source to answer almost every kind of question about the university and community, from students, parents, prospective students, visitors, and faculty and staff.
“I’m excited to build on the successes of the past and explore new ways to deliver personalized information, connections and experiences for visitors, parents and families, Wisconsinites, alumni, and members of our campus community,” she says.
“Nancy brings to this position a passion for UW–Madison and a deep appreciation for what it takes to advance the CAVR mission to welcome visitors, prospective students, parents and families and other campus partners,” says Ben Miller, assistant vice chancellor for government and corporate affairs in University Relations.
One important goal of CAVR is to continue to embrace the Wisconsin Idea and help extend the boundaries of the university to our community and beyond, Miller says.
The office is charged with building and strengthening relationships with communities throughout Wisconsin and exploring ways to expand its impact through programs like the Speakers Bureau, the Campus Visit Program, and Bucky’s Classroom.
Campus and Visitor Relations is the “front door” to UW–Madison, providing a wide array of information, experiences and connections for the campus community and beyond. In addition to the services listed above, CAVR offers an Information and Referral service, accessible by email, chat and search, as well as by phone and in-person from four campus locations.
