Health fee faces review
Continuing students who are not enrolled in Summer Session are currently eligible for care at University Health Services at no cost.
UHS has decided further consideration will be given before implementing a policy that would charge a modest fee-for-service to students not enrolled in summer session.
The policy under consideration states that students who are not enrolled in Summer Session are still eligible for care during the summer, but may be charged a fee-for-service. All graduating and continuing UW–Madison students would still be eligible for services at UHS until the first day of fall classes. Under this policy, students who were not in summer school would be responsible for $25 clinic fees plus the cost of any associated diagnostic testing.
The Associated Students of Madison requested that UHS delay the policy for this summer until fall to allow further discussion on the topic.
“When student government leadership requested that we rescind the policy, they expressed some very valid concerns. They also requested a more substantive discussion about the policy in the fall. This seemed like a very reasonable request, and UHS is happy to invite ASM into the discussion,” says Kathy Poi, director of UHS. # # #
