Guidance for advising and career services staff

Dear Advising and Career Services Communities,

Until things stabilize I will write to you daily with updates on what we are working on to support advising and career services during this period. I won’t always have answers to everything, but I’ll let you know where we are headed.

We expect all advisors and advising units and career services offices to offer remote options for appointments/access during the period in which instruction will be remote.

The following information will be coming soon (hopefully in less than 24 hours) via a new page on the OUA website:

  1. Recommended technology to use for individual and group remote meetings/appointments, how to use such technology
  2. How to set up phone and/or virtual locations for scheduling in Starfish for Starfish users
  3. How to notify students about the process for phone or virtual meetings
  4. How to use your office phone (VOIP phone line) for phone interactions with students if needed
  5. Guidelines for streamlined communication with students. If at all possible, we ask that you pause “mass” communication with students about advising and career services until we are able to organize this further.  We hope to have more on this for you tomorrow.
  6. Updates on any policy, deadlines, process changes that impact our work
