Gender and race forum set for Apr. 4
Sociologist Allan Johnson will lead an afternoon forum and evening dialogue on gender and race Wednesday, April 4.
Johnson will speak on “Unraveling the Gender Knot” in 5120 Grainger Hall, 975 University Ave., at 2 p.m. A dialogue on working with issues of privilege and difference will follow at the Multicultural Student Center, second floor of the Red Gym, 716 Langdon St., 5-7:30 p.m.
Pizza and soda will be served at the dialogue, and both are free public events.
Johnson is the author of the books “The Gender Knot: Unraveling our Patriarchal Legacy” and “Privilege, Power, and Difference” and teaches at the Hartford College for Women. He will sign books at both events. The events are sponsored by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Equity and Diversity Resource Center, and Retention Action Project (RAP).
