Fraternity fire victims to get housing aid
The Dean of Students Office is offering its help to the students who were residing at the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house, which was heavily damaged by fire early Thursday.
Yvonne Fangmeyer, director of the Student Organizations Office, said her office is prepared to provide assistance in finding housing for the displaced students and to act as a liaison with faculty and staff regarding academic issues. In addition, financial assistance is being offered through the Dean of Students Crisis Fund, which provides loans to students who need money quickly when a crisis or emergency strikes.
“We want them to know we are concerned about their welfare, and that we want to do all we can to help them,” said Fangmeyer, who was attempting to contact each of the students today.
She said six UW–Madison students were apparently residing at the fraternity house this summer.
