Former governor discusses using technology to transform global disaster relief at WARF Gilson Event
Recent disasters in Haiti and Chile have shown once again that the rapid delivery of needed relief to people in crisis often means the difference between life and death.
Since 2005, as president and chief executive officer of the Aidmatrix Foundation, former Wisconsin Gov. Scott McCallum has applied his executive skills to using supply chain management strategies and innovative thinking to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid at home and abroad.
McCallum will share the entrepreneurial lessons he has learned in his efforts to bring new business strategies to the nonprofit world at the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) Gilson Global Impact Event being held Monday, April 19, at 5 p.m. at the Fluno Center, 601 University Ave.
McCallum will discuss the elements that contribute to making the difference between success and failure in an organization. He also will identify the key building blocks he used to construct Aidmatrix, with a goal that local socially-conscious entrepreneurs may learn from an organization that has grown to operate on six continents, partner with 38,000 organizations and impact the lives of 65 million people each year.
The Gilson event is free and open to the public. The presentation is followed by a networking reception at 6 p.m. Complimentary parking is available by registering online or by calling (608) 890-1621.
In 2002, UW–Madison alumnus, faculty member and entrepreneur Warren Gilson bequeathed a generous gift to WARF to promote entrepreneurialism in Wisconsin. Since 2005, WARF has hosted a series of events in his name to help connect the university with the Madison community.
