Former chair of UN Associations group to visit UW-Madison

September 20, 2005

A UW–Madison alumnus who until recently was secretary-general of the World Federation of United Nations Associations will be on campus at the end of September to meet with faculty and students and give a public talk on international law.

James Baker Sitrick, chairman of the executive committee of the international law firm Coudert Brothers, will speak on “A Janus Relationship: The U.S. and International Law,” at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Pyle Center. He will address trends in U.S. law and America’s legal relationship with the International Criminal Court, as well as reform of the United Nations, now observing its 60th anniversary.

Sitrick was secretary-general of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) from 2004-05. WFUNA is a global network of people linked through United Nations associations in more than 100 member states of the United Nations.
