Flanagan receives 2012 Tisch Research Prize
Constance Flanagan, UW–Madison professor in the School of Human Ecology, accepted the 2012 Tisch Research Prize at the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University this week.
Tufts presents the annual award to a scholar who has contributed to the understanding of civic engagement. The prize comes with a $5,000 award. Flanagan will Tufts participate in a public discussion of her work with Peter Levine, Tisch College director of research.
Flanagan’s research concerns adolescents’ theories of the social contract—their views of the rights and responsibilities that bind members of a society together. She has a forthcoming book, “Teenage Citizens: The Political Theories of the Young,” to be published by Harvard University Press this fall.
