Finalists to interview this week for director of physical plant

Three finalists will interview this week for the position of director of Physical Plant in Facilities Planning and Management.

They are:

Kris Ackerbauer, assistant director of Physical Plant at UW–Madison for more than 12 years. Ackerbauer has a masters in national security and strategic studies from Naval War College in Newport, R.I. and a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  

Donald Chrusciel, director of business services, facilities planning and management, Iowa State University, for more than 13 years. Chrusciel has a doctorate in industrial education and technology from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, a masters in management information systems/operations management from UW-Milwaukee, a masters in business administration from California State University in Hayward, Calif., and a bachelors in biochemistry from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.  

Robert Lamppa, director of sustainability and energy management, Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, for two years and previously served as director of facilities management at the University of Maine at Farmington in Farmington, Maine. Lamppa has a bachelors in civil engineering with environmental emphasis from the University of Minnesota–Institute of Technology.

The new director will succeed John Harrod.

The director of the Physical Plant is responsible for the coordination and administration of services for the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus community which includes approximately 60,000 faculty, staff and students and more than four million visitors annually.

The director’s responsibilities also include developing, supporting and promoting programs necessary to maintain safe and efficient facilities. The director oversees policies, procedures and programs to ensure coordination and collaboration between the Physical Plant and other departments and administrative units at the university.

The university community is invited to meet Ackerbauer at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11; Chrusciel on Thursday, Dec. 13 and Lamppa on Friday, Dec. 14. All of these meetings will be held in Union South. Check Today in the Union for room locations.
