Finalists chosen for Wisconsin Union director

Three finalists have been chosen for director of the Wisconsin Unionat UW–Madison.

The Wisconsin Union operates Memorial Union and Union South, where faculty, staff and students can eat, relax, socialize, and enjoy artwork, films and live performances.

The finalists were chosen after a nationwide search by a 13-member search and screen committee, made up of faculty, academic and classified staff, and student representatives. The committee was co-chaired by Peter Antaramian, president of the Union Council, and Paul Barrows, vice chancellor for student affairs.

The new director will replace Theodore (Ted) Crabb, who retires this year after 33 years on the job.

Crabb, who is only the second director in the union’s 73-year history, says he is leaving now to give the new director ample time to plan the union’s 75th anniversary celebration in 2003-04.

The finalists are:

• Mark Guthier, assistant director for program services for the Indiana Memorial Union at Indiana University.
• David Mucci, director of the Kansas Unions at the University of Kansas.
• Richard Pierce, assistant director of the Wisconsin Union, facilities.

The Wisconsin Union is a membership organization with more than 75,000 annual and lifetime members in addition to all enrolled faculty, staff and students.
