Final days draw near for Partners in Giving contributions
Partners in Giving, the state, university and UW Hospitals and Clinics Combined Campaign of Dane County, runs through Nov. 28. Employees have a few more days to contribute toward more than 520 nonprofit organizations and 11 umbrella groups, many of which rely on these funds to meet their needs.
This year’s campaign — themed “Many Causes. One Community. Your Choice” — looks good compared to this time last year. In Week Five of the campaign’s collection period, the United Way of Dane County reports that 1,597 donors from UW–Madison and UW Hospitals and Clinics have contributed a combined total of $530,374. That’s up from $411,526 (from 1,231 donors) a year ago.
However, the campaign still has a long way to go compared to last year’s final tally. Nearly 3,000 UW–Madison employees gave $1,240,000 and 815 UWHC donors gave $272,789, for a grand total of $1,512,789 from 3,769 donors.
Since its inception in 1973 as the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), the campaign has raised $66.7 million in Dane County for charitable causes.
Remember the reasons why it’s easy and fulfilling to give:
- Pick the causes that mean the most to you: organizations around the world and right here in Dane County.
- Giving is easy: online, through payroll deduction or using a credit card.
- Combined giving does more, thanks to low overhead costs (less than four percent).
- Charities are screened for rigorous eligibility requirements for fiscal management outlined by the Wisconsin Department of Administration.
