Fall Career Connection offers hundreds of opportunities
Fall Career Connection 2009, the biannual career fair held on the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering campus, offers students an opportunity to meet with 200 employers seeking full-time employees, co-ops and summer interns. This year, small- to medium-sized companies will likely receive significant attention from students who are considering a broad range of opportunities in the difficult economy. Employers interested in hiring international students are also likely to attract many students.
Engineering Career Services director John Archambault says plenty of jobs are available, though it may take a few more months than usual for students to secure employment. Many Career Connection recruiters have expressed plans to hire full-time employees, and there is an especially strong demand for electrical and computer engineers and computer science students.
All students, from freshmen to Ph.D. candidates, are encouraged to attend Career Connection. Archambault advises students to be prepared this year to stay competitive. Students with polished resumes who have practiced their interview skills and researched potential employers are in the best position, he says.
Fall Career Connection will take place Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 16-17. Open to UW–Madison students and alumni, the fair will run both days from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Engineering Centers Building atrium, 1550 Engineering Drive. UW–Madison identification is required for admittance to Career Connection.
