Eighth annual Poker Run/Walk set for April 15
Been eating too much lately? Can’t remember the last time you went to the gym? Ease back into exercise at the Poker Run.
Continuing its tradition of making exercise fun and accessible for everyone, the Kinesiology Club at UW–Madison has organized the Eighth Annual 5K Poker Run/Walk co-sponsored by University Health Services (UHS). The event, which will take place Thursday, April 15, is open to the public. People of all ability levels are encouraged to join in, get some exercise and try their hand at a game of poker.
Participants will draw three cards when they register and the two final cards of their poker hand when they cross the finish line. The grand prize will go to the participant with the highest poker hand, not the fastest time.
“This event is just a great way to get people together to have fun, enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise,” says Sara Ebel, a Kinesiology Club member.
Race registration will start at 4:30 p.m. on race day at the Natatorium, 2000 Observatory Drive. The race will start at 6 p.m., rain or shine. The entry fee is $5, and proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society and the UW–Madison Kinesiology Club. Prize drawings and free food are included.
