Educator scholarships available for careers conference
A limited number of scholarships are available for educators who are interested in attending a February careers conference sponsored by the Center on Education and Work.
“Careers Conference 2005: Developing Careers, Changing Lives” will be held Feb. 1-2 at the Marriott Madison-West, 1313 John Q. Hammons Blvd., Middleton.
The conference, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 educators, counselors and others involved in career development, will offer about 150 sessions. Topics include careers in the classroom, data- driven accountability, future occupational projections, school-to-career programs, business-education partnerships and more.
Highlights include nine pre-conference workshops on Jan. 31, plus tours to workplaces and networking opportunities. UW continuing education units and National Board for Certified Counselors clock hours are offered.
Scholarship preference will be given to Wisconsin educators with a demonstrated financial need. The scholarship money is made available through the Evjue Foundation, the charitable arm of The Capital Times. Scholarship applications are due Dec. 15.
