Economists to brief business leaders
Volatile markets, slow economic recovery and recent corporate scandals are taking a toll on the economy. What twists and turns lie ahead and how will they affect regional, national and international economies and financial markets?
Business leaders will share insights and predictions at Economic Outlook 2003, a one-day executive briefing sponsored by the School of Business.
The briefing is scheduled 8:30 a.m.-3:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Fluno Center for Executive Education, 601 University Ave. Topics include the outlook for the international economy, as well as the U.S., Midwest and Wisconsin economies, and the outlook for financial markets.
Speakers include:
- Ron Wexler, an international economist at Merrill Lynch, who will discuss opportunities in the global, U.S., European and Japanese economies.
- Andrew J. Policano, professor of finance and former dean of UW–Madison School of Business, who will examine current economic conditions within the U.S.
- Lou Holland, managing partner for Holland Capital Management, Chicago, Ill., who will discuss investing during current economic conditions
- Donald A. Nichols, professor of economics and public affairs, and director of the La Follette Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy at UW–Madison, who will provide a detailed, region-specific look at how the changing economy will affect business and employment in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
Nearly 150 business owners, executives and managers are expected to attend. Cost, including lunch and refreshment breaks: $395 per person or $355 per person when two or more from the same organization attend.
