Dig into Wisconsin’s turfgrass industry on May 30
Love your lawn? Join University of Wisconsin–Madison experts on Saturday, May 30, for a free, family friendly day of discovery about the turf and lawn industry.
Located at the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Educational Facility, 3101 County Road M in Verona, all are welcome at this Made In Wisconsin lifelong-learning event, sponsored by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. From 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m., attendees will enjoy Turf Talks from UW–Madison researchers, tips on irrigation and seeding, and fun games like bocce ball and croquet. Homeowners can also bring in samples for UW–Madison experts to evaluate in the facility’s Turfgrass Diagnostic Lab.
Sessions include talks on water harvesting, rain gardens, dealing with lawn pests and learning about different grass types. Representatives from the turfgrass industry will also offer tips and a look at the latest in turf equipment and products.
The event will feature the expertise of UW–Madison researchers Brad Debels and Doug Soldat, Department of Soil Sciences; Gary Gaard, Jim Kerns and Paul Koch, Department of Plant Pathology; Tom Schwab from UW–Madison’s Agricultural Research Stations; John Stier, Department of Horticulture; and Chris Williamson, Department of Entomology.
Wisconsin-style picnic fare will be available for purchase. This event will take place rain or shine. This free event is open to all, but registration is requested here.
