David Obey to visit Vilas Hall; seats available for TV taping
On the eve of his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman David Obey will join an audience of UW–Madison students and friends for a taping of Wisconsin Reflections, airing on the Big Ten Network.
Persons interested in joining the audience for this historic visit are invited to the taping on Monday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Wisconsin Public Television studios, 2nd floor, Vilas Hall, 821 University Ave.
Obey, a Democrat representing northwest Wisconsin’s 7th District, is one of the most respected politicians in Wisconsin history — and its longest-serving federal legislator. The third most senior member of the House, he chairs the Appropriations Committee, one of the most powerful political forces in the country. This dual-degree Badger (BS 1960, MA 1963) has protected and preserved funding for higher education and financial aid while “raising hell for justice” to assist Wisconsin residents — and all Americans — whose needs might otherwise go unmet. His principles and commitment to getting things done have brought national respect over his 42-year career in Congress.
The time commitment will be roughly 90 minutes, including a question-and-answer period.
If you would like to be a part of the audience, send an e-mail to audience@uc.wisc.edu.
