Dance Marathon seeks leadership applicants
UW-Madison is currently the only Big Ten institution without a major dance marathon. A group of students is hoping to change that, while also raising money for the American Family Children’s Hospital in the process.
The UW–Madison Dance Marathon organization is looking for interested students to serve on its leadership council, responsible for planning and organizing the event, which is scheduled to take place beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, and will last 16 hours.
Numerous positions are available, including spots on the executive council, and leading committees dealing with the event’s finances, publicity, marketing, operations and sponsorships. Visit this site for detailed descriptions of the positions available.
Positions are open to current UW–Madison students and make an excellent resume-builder or community service activity.
Online applications are now available here and are due at noon on Monday, July 14, to uwdancemarathon@gmail.com. Interviews of selected applicants will take place at the end of July. Note: The four executive positions must be in Madison for the summer starting Friday, Aug. 1.
At the start of the semester, the UW–Madison Dance Marathon Council will meet bimonthly on Tuesday evenings, with first meeting on Sept. 9 after the Student Organization Fair.
The event is designed to raise funds for the patients and families of the American Family Children’s Hospital. Funds could be used for supporting patients and families, letting kids be kids while in the hospital, improving the community health and completing the children’s hospital.
