Cyclists invited to free winter biking course
A little leery about riding your bike to work or class during the winter? You might want to take advantage of one of two winter biking courses being sponsored by Transportation Services at UW–Madison this month. They are free and open to the public and no registration is required.
The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Memorial Union (check Today in the Union for the specific location), and the second will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 7-8:30 p.m. in Room 133 at the Eagle Heights Community Center, 611 Eagle Heights.
Each course will cover what to wear to make your cold-weather rides more comfortable, how to equip your bike for the season and perform basic winter bike maintenance, and offer tips on how to ride safely on snow and ice.
The courses will be presented by Bucky’s Ambassadors, a group of four students who are working to encourage bicycling and walking as modes of transportation and promote pedestrian and bike safety.
