Countdown to Commencement starts Nov. 8

November 6, 2001 By Cheryl Porior-Mayhew

December graduates can prepare for commencement and life in the “real world” by attending Countdown to Commencement, a one-stop-shop approach to commencement will be held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Tripp Commons, Memorial Union.

The event enables December graduates to reserve commencement attire, order class rings and announcements, check graduation status, confirm mailing addresses for diplomas, and learn about commencement activities for individual schools and colleges.

Wisconsin Alumni Association staff will be on hand to explain the benefits of joining the alumni association, including access to short-term insurance, a free e-mail account, and valuable career resources. Winter grads may also order video and conventional yearbooks, receive information about lifetime Union memberships, and ask last-minute questions about their eligibility to graduate. Countdown to Commencement handles walk-in traffic through the day; no appointment is needed.

WAA has been serving UW–Madison and its graduates since 1861. WAA provides an extensive student relations program, including the Homecoming Committee, Wisconsin Alumni Student Board and Wisconsin Future Alumni Association.
