Countdown to Commencement prepares UW grads for real world
Students at UW–Madison will prepare for commencement and life after college at Countdown to Commencement, a special two-day event for all graduating seniors on Wednesday, April 7, at Tripp Commons in the Memorial Union and Thursday, April 8, at Union South. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day.
Countdown to Commencement enables May graduates to reserve commencement attire; order class rings, diploma frames and announcements; check graduation status; confirm mailing addresses for diplomas; and learn about commencement activities for individual schools and colleges. Wisconsin Alumni Association staff will be present to explain the many benefits of joining WAA, including access to short-term insurance, a free e-mail account and valuable career resources.
Spring graduates also may have photos taken by Carl Wolf Studio, talk to representatives from Kaplan Test Prep about graduate school preparatory tests and ask last-minute questions about the commencement ceremonies. A few lucky students will also win a graduation package, including a Josten’s ring and lifetime memberships to WAA and the Wisconsin Union. Countdown to Commencement staff can handle walk-in traffic throughout the day, so no appointment is necessary.
Co-hosts of the event are the Office of the Registrar, the Secretary of the Faculty’s Office, the Wisconsin Alumni Association, The University Book Store and the Wisconsin Union.
