Committee seeks applications for facilities leader
The University of Wisconsin–Madison has launched a search for a new associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management.
A search and screen committee chaired by Mark Markel, dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, will recommend finalists for the position to Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Laurent Heller. The search firm Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates is assisting with the search process.
Applications for the position are due Friday, March 24, to ensure consideration. The anticipated start date for the successful candidate is in early summer.
The new associate vice chancellor will succeed Bill Elvey, who left UW–Madison in October to become senior vice president of Children’s Health System of Texas. Margaret Tennessen is serving as interim associate vice chancellor.
Heller says he is looking for candidates who are creative and innovative thinkers, have strong leadership and communication skills, are committed to collaboration, and have demonstrated achievement of multicultural goals, including recruitment and retention of diverse staff.
“Strong and effective facilities management is crucial to the achievement of UW–Madison’s academic mission,” Heller says.
The associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management provides leadership and strategic vision over the full spectrum of UW–Madison’s facilities management functions, including campus master planning, capital budgeting, facilities project design and construction, environmental health and safety, transportation services, space management and other activities.
In addition to Markel, members of the search and screen committee include Jason King, Division of Intercollegiate Athletics; Chris Bruhn, College of Letters & Science; Brent Lloyd, Facilities Planning and Management; Alex Roe, UW System Capital Planning and Budget; Heather Stouder, City of Madison; Kari Sasso, UW–Madison Police Department; Bob McMahon, Department of Chemistry; Jesse Winters, School of Education; Isabelle Girard, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education; Michael Diebold, Facilities Planning and Management; and Omer Arain, Associated Students of Madison.
