Classroom renovations ready for fall semester
Many university students will walk into classrooms that are now more modern and more comfortable when they return to classes this fall.
Nine general assignment classrooms underwent facelifts of varying degrees this summer as part of an ongoing effort to improve the campus learning environment.
“It is important that students and instructors not only feel comfortable, but have access to technology that can enhance student learning,” says Kim Todd, UW–Madison Space Management Office.
Construction crews demolished parts of the classrooms and rebuilt them to provide the best possible teaching and learning environment. Careful consideration was given to each room’s acoustics, sight lines, lighting and seating comfort.
Some of the rooms were also equipped with state-of-the-art technology at instructors’ fingertips. This may include a podium with a touch-screen control panel that controls the room’s new audio-visual equipment and lighting. Rooms also have permanent video projectors and Internet connections.
The renovated classrooms are: 101 Agricultural Engineering, B102 Van Vleck, 6112 Social Science, 6116 Social Science, 228 Education, 234 Education, 1217 Mosse Humanities, 1221 Mosse Humanities, 19 Ingraham.
