Cisco chairman Morgridge to speak at Directors’ Summit
Cisco Systems chairman and former president and CEO John P. Morgridge will address corporate directors and officers during a keynote speech titled “Building Something Special: Governance at Cisco” at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s annual Directors’ Summit conference on Friday, Nov. 3.
Directors’ Summit runs November 2-3 at the Fluno Center for Executive Education, 601 University Ave. The conference presents corporate governance issues from the viewpoint of institutional investors and is co-sponsored by NASDAQ.
Conference highlights include keynote speeches by Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples and currently a venture partner at Highland Capital Partners; Patrick McGurn, executive vice president of Institutional Shareholder Services and a leading expert on corporate governance issues; and UW–Madison Athletic Director Barry Alvarez.
Featured speakers include Larry Rittenberg, chair of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission and accounting professor at the UW–Madison. Rittenberg was recently named one of the nation’s 100 most influential people in finance by Treasury and Risk Management Magazine.
Other sessions include panel discussions on executive compensation, liability insurance, the role of the board, and investor perspectives on governance.
More than 100 board members, presidents, CEOs, chairmen, managing directors and other top-level executives are expected to attend.
