CIRTL provides new resources for teaching the sciences

September 6, 2005

Instructors can take the initiative to include all students in the sciences, by using new teaching resources produced by the diversity team at the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL).

Geared toward busy faculty and graduate students, the resources include:

  • Reaching All Students: A Resource for Teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics — a straightforward introduction to inclusive course development and teaching;
  • Case Studies in Inclusive Teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics — a collection of scenarios for group discussion; and
  • A Web-based literature review summarizing successful programs and the challenges that students still face.

CIRTL staff are facilitating hands-on workshops for interested departments. CIRTL plans to update its resources this spring and to create interactive versions of its case studies.
