Celebrate UW-Madison and help Milwaukee students at the Wisconsin State Fair
UW–Madison has great traditions like the colorful Memorial Union Terrace Chairs, the spirit of the Badger Band, and life-changing contributions in science and research. We celebrate championship athletic teams and even championship cheese makers. Perhaps the best UW–Madison tradition is the spirit of giving back to our Wisconsin community.
Help celebrate all of these traditions by being a part of UW-Madison Day at the Wisconsin State Fair on Aug. 8.
We’re dedicating this day to celebrating all that is UW–Madison, while also helping out families in need in the Milwaukee School District. A 2011 study put an amazing price tag on the cost of school supplies. The totals: $530 for elementary school, $680 for middle school and $1,100 for high school students. This expense can create a significant financial burden for some families, especially those with multiple children in school. UW–Madison is sponsoring a school supplies drive to benefit Milwaukee-area children. Simply bring new, unopened school supplies to a State Fair admissions gate, and you’ll receive a voucher for $5 off a $15 ticket sheet, redeemable in SpinCity while they last. One discount per item donated.
If you are not able to attend the fair in person, you can still make an impact on Milwaukee Public School students. Drop off school supplies at one of these UW–Madison locations:
Welcome Center, 21 N. Park St.
Union South — Campus and Community Information Welcome Desk, 1308 W. Dayton St.
Camp Randall Welcome Center, inside Gate 1 of the stadium in Kellner Hall.
Wisconsin Alumni Association, 650 N. Lake St.
Steenbock Memorial Library, 550 Babcock Drive
Agricultural Hall, 1450 Linden Drive
Ebling Library, Health Sciences Learning Center, 750 Highland Ave.
Mark your calendar, pick out your favorite Cardinal red, pack a school supply donation and we’ll see you at the Wisconsin State Fair.
