Campus to host speech festival

March 9, 2004

The Wisconsin High School Forensic Association State Speech Festival will take place on campus Friday and Saturday, April 2-3. The Office of Education Outreach is hosting the annual event, in which approximately 6,000 high school students from around the state, as well as several hundred judges, participate.

Competition will be held in 225 classrooms in the Bascom Hill area and beyond. Festival headquarters will be in Bascom Hall rooms 165 and 272.

Due to the large number of visitors and school buses anticipated, Observatory Drive traffic will be restricted to one-way westbound between Park and Charter streets from mid-afternoon to 10 p.m. on Friday, April 2, and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 3.

During those hours, permit holders or others parking in Bascom Hill lots 9, 10 and 11 will be able to enter Observatory Drive from North Park Street only. When leaving the lots, they will need to turn left toward Charter Street.
