Calendar raises money for scholarships

October 30, 2001 By Gwen Evans

The 2002 University of Wisconsin–Madison calendar features 27 full-color photos of some of the most beautiful places on campus — and buying the calendar will help support students who attend the university.

More than $10 of the $12.95 retail price goes to the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Scholarship Fund, thanks to a unique partnership between the university and the University Book Store.

This is the third year of calendar production. Calendar sales have raised almost $60,000. The 14- by-20-inch wall calendars are now available at all University Book Store locations.

Dale Henricks, president of the University Book Store, has sponsored many activities that benefit UW–Madison. Henricks is committed to being a good neighbor of the campus. “The university community supports us and I want to give back to that community. Raising money for scholarships is a great way to help students and back the university,” he says.

Each month’s double-page spread features a large color image and a smaller photo. The calendar presents a visual tour of the campus, from a sunset over Lake Mendota to center field at Camp Randall and to other locations in between. Lounging on Bascom Hill on a sweet spring afternoon and cracking the books in a library capture the essence of UW–Madison. Named “Memories For a Lifetime,” the photos will awaken fondness for all things Badger. The calendar photos were taken by Jeff Miller of University Communications.

The calendar is available at all University Book Store locations and can be ordered by phone, (800) 957-7052, or via the Web.
