Calendar raises money for scholarships

October 20, 2000

The 2001 university calendar features 27 full-color photos of some of the most beautiful places on campus — and buying the calendar will help support students who attend the university.

More than $10 of the $12.95 retail price goes to the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Scholarship Fund, thanks to a unique partnership between the university and the University Book Store.

This is the second year the calendar is being produced. Sales from last year’s calendar raised $42,300. The 14-by-20-inch wall calendars are now available at all University Book Store locations.

The book store decided to produce another calendar because “I want to provide a service to the community that supports us. Raising money for scholarships supports students and the university,” says Dale Henricks, president of the University Book Store, which has sponsored numerous UW–Madison activities over the years. Henricks hopes to raise $50,000 this year.

Named “Memories For a Lifetime,” the calendar will awaken fondness for all things Badger. Each month’s double-page spread features a large color image and a smaller photo. The calendar presents a visual tour of the campus, from Lake Mendota to the center ice at the Kohl Center and to other locations in between. The sea of red and white at Camp Randall on a crisp autumn Saturday and a snowy stroll on Bascom Hill capture the essence of UW–Madison.

The calendar is available at all University Book Store locations. Order by phone, (800) 957-7052, or by visiting: http://www.badgerware.com.
