Business columnist to visit campus

Wall Street Journal columnist and Madison native Jesse Eisinger will visit UW–Madison for a one-week residency March 31-April 4.

The residency is part of the Business Writer in Residence program, which brings national business journalists to campus to share their professional experiences with students, faculty and staff.

Since April 2002, Eisinger has written The Wall Street Journal’s “Ahead of the Tape” column, a daily column that has become an instant touchstone for market professionals and interested amateurs, highlighting crucial opportunities and pitfalls before the opening of each market day. He is also currently a rotating co-host of CNBC’s Wake-Up Call.

Previously, Eisinger was based in London for two years, writing “Heard in Europe,” a commentary column on European markets, for The Wall Street Journal Europe. He also appeared regularly on CNBC Europe.

Before moving to London, Eisinger worked for TheStreet.com, an Internet financial publication in New York, where he covered the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries and wrote on issues of accounting and investing. He has also worked at Dow Jones News Service and worked in Santiago, Chile, for Quick Nikkei News, a wire service.

Eisinger is a 1992 graduate of Columbia University, and lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Sarah Ellison, also a Wall Street Journal reporter.

The School of Business, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and University Communications sponsors the Business Writer in Residence program with support from the UW Foundation. During the week, Eisinger will speak to journalism and business classes, consult with individual students, faculty and staff, and meet with local journalists.=
