Bucky Bus back for 2008
The Bucky Bus shuttle will again operate this season for all home football games.
The Athletic Department reached an agreement for shuttle service with Kobussen Buses Ltd. of Sun Prairie. Service will include approximately 17 full-size buses from lots 60/76 near the UW Hospital and 10 full-size buses from the downtown Madison parking ramps.
Fans using the shuttle will pay a roundtrip charge of $5. The shuttles, which generally provide rides to more than 5,000 fans per game, will begin service two hours before kick-off and operate until one hour after the game. Shuttles are expected to be available approximately every five-10 minutes.
The Athletic Department needed to find a new provider for the shuttle service this season due to new federal regulations that prohibit public transit systems, including Metro Transit in Madison, from providing shuttle service.
Kobussen will operate essentially the same routes and provide the same service as Metro did during the 2007 season.
Parking is $2 in Lot 60 and free in the Lot 76 ramp. Regular parking rates are in effect for the downtown ramps on game days.
Postgame pickups for the downtown shuttle will continue to be on Monroe Street across from Camp Randall and on University Avenue near Breese Terrace for the lots 60/76 shuttle.
There will continue to be two buses near Gate 8 on Breese Terrace post-game for direct service to Lots 60/76 for elderly fans and persons with disabilities.
Golf cart service around Camp Randall, provided by the Athletic Department Guest Services staff, will also continue.
