Body-mind practitioners to gather
Body-mind exercise methods, conditioning programs and therapeutic techniques to enhance physical expression, internal focus and healing potential will be explored at the Somatic Arts Festival hosted by the Dance Program Thursday-Saturday, March 25-27.
During the festival, leading scholars, somatic practitioners and educators will enliven Lathrop Hall with lectures, workshops on dance medicine/ science, kinesiology, body therapies, and other forms of body-mind education techniques.
Pilates, yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander, dance therapy, Extreme Moves and other practices will be offered in experiential movement sessions throughout the day on Saturday.
Registration is preferred but not required for this free, public event. Non-students who register in advance will be eligible to purchase discounted tickets for the Elizabeth Streb Dance Co. evening performance on March 26 at the Wisconsin Union Theater.
