Beck to head executive education at business school
Ted Beck, former executive with Citibank/Citicorp, New York, has been named head of executive education at the School of Business.
As associate dean for executive education, Beck will oversee the development and execution of the business school’s wide array of executive programs. The School of Business enrolled more than 16,000 people in its executive education programs last year.
Beck brings 20 years experience at Citibank/Citicorp, where his most recent position was managing director and market manager for Citicorp Securities, Inc.
He also developed global relationships between his company and many U.S., and multinational clients. He has been based in New York, San Francisco, Cleveland, Minneapolis, Chicago and Zurich, Switzerland. His experience also includes working as a master trainer for the largest quality training initiative in Citicorp’s history. He served on the board of directors of Citicorp Securities from 1996-98.
His new responsibilities include the development of programs for the Fluno Center for Executive Education, now under construction in the 600 block of University Avenue in downtown Madison, as well as developing relationships with client organizations.
The $24 million Fluno Center is designed to offer a total-immersion educational environment for executives and includes overnight accommodations. It will be completed in early 2000.
Business School Dean Andrew J. Policano said the hiring of a person of Beck’s experience, “clearly reflects the school’s commitment to offering world-class executive education. ”
Beck is an alumnus of the UW–Madison School of Business. He received an MBA in International Business in 1976. He and his wife Diana have four children.
