Be prepared for traffic congestion around campus

Fans heading to Camp Randall Saturday, Sept. 11, for the first Badger home game of the season should be prepared for heavy traffic congestion in the campus area.

Motorists traveling eastbound on University Avenue should be aware of road construction in the Midvale Boulevard area that includes lane closures. Fans are encouraged to build in extra travel time and expect delays.

Monroe Street between Regent Street and Randall Avenue will be closed to traffic for approximately 30 minutes after the game ends to accommodate pedestrian safety.

The east campus area still has ongoing construction projects that began back in mid-May.

The good news is that North Park Street between West Johnson Street and University Avenue is now open to traffic in both directions.

Park Street from University Avenue to Observatory Drive is still one way southbound.

Langdon Street from Lake Street to Park Street is still one way westbound as utility construction continues in that area.

Observatory Drive remains closed between Lot 11 at Bascom Hall and North Park Street because of a utility project that has not been completed.

Due to the construction projects the runners in the Sunday, Sept. 12, Ironman competition will not be using Observatory Drive. Instead, the Lakeshore Path will become a two-way route for them. They will head west on the path and east on their return to Park Street.

Spectators are asked to stay away from the area of Park and Langdon streets and Observatory Drive.
