Babcock store ceremony today

July 31, 2001 By

The Babcock Dairy Store, which recently reopened to the public after undergoing a major renovation, will be the site of an official ribbon-cutting ceremony today, July 31, at 3:30 p.m.

The renovated store, 1605 Linden Drive, one of the most popular spots on campus, features natural maple, colorful tiles and flooring, glossy black menu boards and bright, modern lighting. The shiny stainless steel countertops were chosen because “they’re dairy-like, very sanitary and easy to clean” says Food Science Department administrative director Tom Blattner.

There’s even a new logo on the wall and the windows, designed with the help of a group of undergraduate art education students.

The Babcock Dairy Store renovation was funded through a donation from John and Donna Hansen of Onalaska, Wis. John Hansen, the founder of Kwik Trip, Inc., earned his bachelor of science degree in meat and animal science from the University of Wisconsin in 1960.

The store’s hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturdays.
