Babcock Drive closed; Lot 40 restricted
Spring officially arrived on Monday, and along with it came the start of the construction season on campus streets and sidewalks. Work began this week on completion of the installation of a new sanitary sewer interceptor in the Babcock Drive/Stock Pavilion area, a project that was started last year.
Babcock between University Avenue and Linden Drive will be closed for about two days this week, weather permitting. Once that segment has been completed, the work will continue on through Lot 40 to the west side of the Stock Pavilion, then between the Stock Pavilion and the foot bridge, and end in the sidewalk between the dairy barn parking lot and the horse barn.
During the construction period, which is expected to take about a month, the east half of Lot 40 (behind Babcock Hall) will be closed first, then the west half (behind the Stock Pavilion). Officials say there should no time when the entire lot is closed.
Later this spring, Babcock Drive between Linden and Observatory drives and Observatory from Babcock Drive to Liz Waters Hall will get a final coat of asphalt. The paving will not take place until after the spring semester has ended.
