Auriantal To Play in World University Games
Hennssy Auriantal, a junior guard on the men’s basketball team, will play for Canada in the 1997 World University Games in Trapani, Italy, August 21-30.
Auriantal, from Montreal, earned a spot on the squad after tryouts in Toronto last week.
“I think it will be a good experience for me,” Auriantal said. “I’ll get a lot of playing time and the international experience should provide competition.”
Canada, coached by Michael Katz of Toronto’s Humber College, lists several other American college players on its 12-man roster, including Nevada-Reno’s Dave Morgan, Canisius’ Jamie Cammaert, Fairfield’s Greg Francis and Niagara’s Kevin Jobity.
Auriantal averaged 5.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28 games last season for the Badgers. Michael Finley is the only other Badger to have played in the World University Games, having played in 1993.
