What are the lyrics to “By the light of the moon?” We always sing it at Badger games, but I don’t think many people (like myself) know all the words.

“By the light of the moon” is part of the lyrics for the song “If You Want to be a Badger.” Happy singing!

If You Want to be a Badger
Words: Julius E. Olson

Verse I:
If you want to be a Badger, just come along with me,

By the light, by the light, by the light of the moon.

If you want to be a Badger, just come along with me
By the bright shining light of the moon.

Chorus:
By the light of the moon, by the light of the moon,

By the bright shining light, by the light of the moon.

If you want to be a Badger, just come along with me,
By the bright shining light of the moon.

Verse II: Did you ever see a Badger, who didn’t want to spoon, …

Verse III: Did you ever see a Badger, who’d pass up a saloon, …

Verse IV: If you want a little Badger, we’ll see want we can do, …

Can you give me some information about the UW–Madison “shield” logo?
According to University Communications, Art Director Earl Madden created the “W” shield in the late 1980s. Madden adapted the design from the shield that appears on the UW Field House. In 2001, a team of University Communications designers developed the logo that you see today, which incorporates a refined version of the shield with the words “The University of Wisconsin–Madison.”

University Communications staff assist campus departments and organizations in consistently and correctly using the logo. Find out more information about the logo, including usage guidelines, visit http://www.uc.wisc.edu/.
