Artist in residence to be featured in forum

Wisconsin Public Radio’s Lori Skelton will host a public forum with the world-renowned conductor, composer and scholar Gunther Schuller about his life and work.

Schuller is this fall’s artist in residence for the Art Institute’s Interdisciplinary Arts Residency Program.

Schuller has performed professionally since he was 16 years old, having played with the New York Philharmonic and as principal horn in the Cincinnati Symphony. He has recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, the Modern Jazz Quartet and Ornette Coleman.

He has won awards including the Pulitzer Prize, the MacArthur “Genius” Award, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Gold Medal for Music and the BMI Lifetime Achievement Award.
