Art sale features student work
The Wisconsin Union Directorate’s Student Art Sale is under way and will be held through Friday, Nov. 21, at the Memorial Union.
Student artwork will be on sale at the Porter Butts Gallery, featuring paintings, sculpture, jewelry and other media.
Additional work will be on exhibit in Lakefront on Langdon and the Theater Gallery. Sara Woldt is curator of the exhibit at Lakefront on Langdon, where 12 pieces of student work purchased in either MFA shows or at past student art shows will be highlighted. The show exhibits new additions to the Memorial Union’s permanent collection, including Zach Mory’s “Line Reaction,” which received several awards and was purchased at last year’s Student Art Sale. Works here are not for sale.
The Theater Gallery showcases Fresh Hot Press, the publishing component of the UW–Madison Print Club. Fresh Hot Press publishes small editions and prints in collaboration with visiting artists at the UW–Madison Print Area. On display are prints made by faculty and graduate and undergraduate students with visiting artists at the university.
Visit the sale and the exhibits from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. today (Nov. 19) and Thursday, Nov. 20, and from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21. For more information, contact Amanda Schmitt, 262-7592 or art@union.wisc.edu, or visit http://www.union.wisc.edu/art.
