Arrive early on game day
UW–Madison police remind all football fans that security measures remain in effect for this Saturday’s Badger football game.
Gates at Camp Randall Stadium will open at 9:30 a.m. for the 11:10 a.m. kickoff. Among the measures:
- All carry-ins are prohibited. No thermoses, backpacks, coolers, umbrellas, large purses, etc. will be allowed inside the stadium. Items not allowed in must be returned to your vehicle.
- Any blankets, small purses, etc. will be subject to inspection prior to entering the stadium.
- Drivers of vehicles accessing lots around the stadium should expect to comply with search requests.
- All traffic on Breese Terrace is banned between noon and 4 p.m. Fans are again encouraged to arrive early and bring only their game tickets with them.
“We would once more like to thank all Badger fans and Madison community members who so graciously and patiently cooperated with us to provide as safe an environment as possible,” says UW-Madison Police Capt. Dale Burke. “We anticipate that with that same level of cooperation again this week that disruptions to people’s normal routines will be minimal.”
Athletic Department officials also say football fans should allows extra time to navigate construction around Camp Randall Stadium.
Associate Athletic Director Al Fish encourages fans to arrive early for Saturday’s contest. Fish indicated several areas north of the stadium are impassable, and pedestrian traffic is being routed to adjacent streets along Breese Terrace and Randall Avenue. Gates will open 90 minutes ahead of game time this season to assist patrons in accessing the stadium.
Camp Randall Stadium is undergoing the most comprehensive renovation and expansion project in its history over the next three years. Here are some tips:
- Because of the construction on the Camp Randall Stadium grounds, fans should arrive at Wisconsin football games early. Gates to the stadium will open 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
- Construction has already begun on the underground utilities located at the north east corner of the stadium (next to the McClain Center). As a result, no pedestrian traffic will be permitted to come from the northeast (from Campus Drive, University Avenue or Engineering Drive). Walkers will be diverted from University Drive towards Breese Terrace and from Campus / Engineering Drives towards Randall Avenue and eventually Monroe Street. Fencing will be setup to encourage pedestrian traffic flow to the southeast and northwest entrances.
Signage, additional guest services staff and public address announcements at the stadium will offer advice to patrons for easier pedestrian traffic flow.
