Study-Abroad Faculty Sought
The Office of International Studies and Programs is accepting applications from faculty who wish to teach during the spring or fall semesters of 2005-06 in the UW–Madison London Program or the Florence, Italy program that the UW sponsors with the University of Michigan and Duke University. The language of instruction in both programs is English. Faculty should send a brief letter of interest, a curriculum vitae and two course proposals (one or two paragraphs per proposal).

A resident director is also needed for the 2005- 06 academic year for the UW–Madison/Indiana University/University of Michigan program in Aix-en-Provence, France. Requirements include fluency in French, research or related experiences in France or in a Francophone country, a demonstrated interest in international education and the ability to work effectively with undergraduate students. Faculty should send a brief letter of interest and a curriculum vitae.

Science Saturdays Deadline Nears
Friday, March 12, is the last day to sign up for “Science Saturdays.” The programs, held Saturdays, 9 a.m.-noon, incorporate hands-on science activities for middle school students and their parents and are taught by university faculty. The sessions may be taken individually or as a series. Topics include: March 27, “The Sky at Many Wavelengths”; April 17, “Astronomical Observations”; and April 24, “Energy and Simple Machines.” Information and registration: http://www.scifun.org, 263-2424.

Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters Fellows
The Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters is accepting nominations for fellows. The deadline is Saturday, April 10. Strategic Faculty Seed Positions
The Office of International Studies and Programs is partnering with the International Institute to launch an initiative to provide seed funds for selected faculty positions in critical and core areas of international and area studies.

Each International Institute member program, in collaboration with partner departments, may submit a proposal for its top hiring priority (one position) for a tenure-track assistant professor. Member programs are encouraged to show clear evidence of department/ program interest and commitment to the position.

Nasal Washing Study
The ear, nose and throat department is recruiting adults to participate in a research study that looks at how sinus/nasal function is affected by salt water irrigation. The department is looking for people with sinus problems as well as those with “healthy” sinuses. Participants will complete four sessions on four separate days, all performed at the ear, nose and throat clinic. Compensation for completing all four sessions is $40.
