All-Campus Idol to showcase UW-Madison talent
The Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB) is set to host the fourth annual All-Campus Idol, a campus version of "American Idol" that showcases the singing talent of University of Wisconsin–Madison students.
All-Campus Idol will take place Tuesday, April 22, at the Wisconsin Union Theater during All-Campus Party‘s (ACP) week of events.
Ten finalists will perform and compete for the vote of the UW–Madison campus community. Three campus celebrity judges will award top marks to the best performers. The winner of All-Campus Idol will open for alternative hip-hop artist Talib Kweli at the ACP Badger Blowout concert presented by UW Credit Union, to be held at the Wisconsin Field House on Wednesday, April 23.
The free show will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to all UW–Madison students, faculty and staff. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Door prizes will be given out to lucky audience members. Students are invited to cheer on the competitors and vote for All-Campus Idol 2008 online after the show.
Any UW–Madison student is welcome to audition for one of the 10 performer spots at All-Campus Idol. Auditions will be held on Friday, April 4; Sunday, April 6; and Thursday, April 10, at the Mosse Humanities Building. Those who choose to try out need to attend only one audition date and should go online to reserve an audition time.
All-Campus Idol is part of All-Campus Party, a weeklong, cost-free and alcohol-free celebration of the onset of spring and the spirit of the UW–Madison campus community created for students, by students. WASB is a nonprofit student organization empowered by the Wisconsin Alumni Association. WASB is focused on linking students past, present and future through a variety of activities that have one central focus: celebrating UW–Madison and its alumni.
