All-Campus Idol: A new addition to All-Campus Party 2005
All-Campus Idol promises to draw crowds as the students of Madison search for their first musical superstar.
The new event is part of UW–Madison’s All-Campus Party (ACP), which is sponsored by the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board (WASB). According to party co-director Kris MacDonald, “The event aims to include as many people and organizations as possible.” WASB encourages all interested students to show off their vocal talent to the student population in this American Idol spin-off. The talent competition’s winner will be selected by on-the-spot Internet voting, sponsored by Apple.
“This event is a great way to get a lot of students involved in the weeklong party,” says ACP co-director Ryan Connors. “The at-scene voting makes it particularly easy for students to pick their favorite singers, and it adds another element to the already exciting event.”
There will be preliminary judging of 100 participants on Sunday, April 17, in Vilas Hall from noon to 4 p.m. The finals will occur on Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Union Theater. The All-Campus Idol winner will then perform at the Badger Blowout Concert on Friday, April 30. Prizes will be awarded and other contestants will be acknowledged.
This year’s All-Campus Party and All-Campus Idol are made possible by the support of these generous sponsors: Wisconsin Alumni Association, Wisconsin Alumni Student Board, Associated Students of Madison, Office of the Vice Chancellor, University Housing, Charter Communications, UW Athletics, The Badger Herald, Multi-Cultural Council, Apple Computers, Wisconsin Union Directorate, Coca-Cola, Topper’s Pizza, The Daily Cardinal, Chipotle and The University Book Store.
