Academic staff institute offers professional development tools
UW System Board of Regents President Charles Pruitt will give his bird’s eye view of public higher education in Wisconsin during this year’s Academic Staff Institute.
The institute is set for 7:45–1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club and is open to all UW–Madison academic staff.
Participants may attend three of the 12 available sessions. Academic staff members will have the opportunity to learn about best practices for performance reviews, academic staff rights and tips for workplace relaxation. Resource tables will also be available during breaks so attendees can learn more about campus programs and organizations for academic staff.
This year’s Academic Staff Institute builds on the one held last year, says Heather Daniels, chair of the Academic Staff Executive Committee.
“We have brought back some sessions that continue to be relevant and added some new ones as well,” Daniels says. “Academic staff will find a mix of sessions all related to their professional development either specifically at UW–Madison or in general.”
The institute is sponsored by the Madison Academic Staff Association, Office of the Provost, Academic Staff Executive Committee, Academic Staff Governance, the Academic Staff Professional Development and Recognition Committee and the Office of Human Resource Development.
The $20 cost to attend the institute includes a breakfast buffet and lunch.
Those who apply to join the Madison Academic Staff Association and pay with personal funds will receive a refund.
The deadline for registration and payment is Friday, Feb. 18. Visit here to register.
