Absentee voting available on campus through Thursday

Eligible Madison voters can cast their ballots this week for the August 14 primary election at three different sites on campus.

Offices on the ballot are governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative, odd-numbered Wisconsin State Senate seats, and all Wisconsin Assembly seats.

You will need to present ID to receive an absentee ballot.  If you are not already registered to vote at your current address, you may register to vote, with proof of residence, at any absentee voting location.

If you don’t have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license or ID, you can use a voter-compliant ID card, issued by the Wiscard office, along with a screenshot of your fall 2018 course schedule to verify your enrollment.

The times and places on campus for absentee voting are:

• Union South, second floor, 2 to 6 p.m., from Monday, August 6, to Thursday August 9.
• Memorial Union, Gekas Commons, 2 to 6 p.m., from Monday, August 6, to Thursday, August 9.
• Student Activity Center, 333 East Campus Mall, sunroom, 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., from Monday, August 6, to Thursday, August 9.

You can request an absentee ballot until 5 p.m. August 9 if you’re already registered to vote. It’s too late to register to vote by mail or online for the August 14 election but you can register to vote at your polling place on election day.

To request an absentee ballot online, take a picture of your voter ID (Wisconsin driver’s license, passport, or student voter ID along with fall 2018 course schedule). Then send the pictures to voting@cityofmadison.com. Use the subject line “August Absentee” and include your name, your current Madison address, and “send me a ballot.” Give the mailing address or email where you are now.
