Geology Museum open house coming April 30
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Geology Museum‘s annual open house is scheduled for noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, at 1215 W. Dayton St. (on the corner of Charter and Dayton streets).
The open house is a free, community-centered event that this year will feature flying reptiles. Returning to the skies of the museum will be a model of a Pteranodon, a type of pterosaur with a 20-foot wingspan.
At 1 p.m., Martin Lockley of the University of Colorado-Denver will give a public talk titled “Tracking Pterosaurs.” Lockley is one of the world’s leading experts on prehistoric footprints. Other family-oriented activities include geology bingo, the trilobite bean-bag toss, fishing for fossils, a museum scavenger hunt and prehistoric arts and crafts.
Free parking during the open house is available in University Lots 51 and 54 (access from Charter Street) as well as on nearby streets.
